Good evening! From the briefing. The Governor and the Secretary of DEP have been either at Mobile Command or with officials of Florida discussing the oil spill. The Governor plans to expand the State Declaration at some point today.
Currently there are 26-35 people either on site in Mobile, Al or traveling there. A Second Forward Command will be established shortly in St. Petersburg and a like group will be developed to staff that location. Possibly a third forward area will be established at Key West.
We will remain at level 2 and it looks like a long term operation.
Volunteer Florida is providing spotters on beaches expected to be affected so far.
Weather Sunday and Monday has not been conducive to oil recovery. Tuesday with a wind shift away from Florida there may be some ability to return to skimming and burning. However there will again be a weather shift that may put Florida back in the path Thursday and Friday. There has NOT been a solution presented to cap or stop the well so it continues to pour 200,000 gallons a day.
ESF 2 has not been tasked with any missions and there has been no talk of activation of this ESF. This is of course subject to change. I received a call from Mississippi tonight saying there is talk of setting up amateur communications down the road. These interstate request must go thru the FEOC for Florida amateurs to be deployed.
NFL Section amateurs who may want to eventually volunteer if a callout is made, make sure your data is correct in the NFL DB. As a reminder, only amateurs who are registered in the NFL database are eligible for deployment when called for by the FEOC to the NFL SEC/SM.
